In 2017 roughly 15% of newly registered cars in Germany have been SUVs. And numbers are still rising.

The Nissan Qashqai, which has been available in various models since 2007, has been the most registered SUV in Germany in 2017. In this recording you can hear the running Diesel engine of a Nissan Qashqai 1.5 from 2017. Discussions following the “Diesel-Scandal” in 2016 suggest that the sound of Diesel engines might actually be an endangered sound in European cities.
