Warning signal

A bicycle, a couple of cars and pedestrians all passing the corner of Tunnbindargatan och Sandgatan in Norrköping, Sweden. People talking in different languages, when suddenly the warning signal! A seven-second tone followed by a 14 second pause, then a new tone, a new break and so on for two minutes. After a long pause (about 90 seconds) sounds the 30 second "all clear" signal.

The Swedish warning signal Announcement is tested four times a year, on the first Monday in March, June, September and December (the last month of each quarter) at 15:00. Information is provided in the Swedish Radio all radio stations shortly before this time, and when the test is finished.

The background sound level in the crossing is around 52 dB and sound level peaks on 74 dB during the warning signal.
