Powering mill

The sound of powering mill in operation. The recording was realized in the National Museum of Agriculture and Agricultural-Food Industry in Szreniawa (Poland).
Powering mill is a machine using draft animals as the source of power for such agricultural devices as e.g. grain mill, chaff cutter, fanning mill. It consists of a system of toothed gears moved by harnessed animals walking in a circle. Transmission shaft was used for transmitting power from the mill to the machine itself. The device was constructed ca. 1930.
Originally, the recorded mill should have been powered by oxen. For the purposes of the recording it was moved by two men.
