Mr. C. P. You, Ton-Ying & Comp. , 5 East 57th Street, New York. Dear Mr. Yau, I now approach you when refering to your kind letters of March 2l4th 1932 and Jan 10th this year. Until now I bave not been able to make you a definite proposal. We understand that the eight beautiful animel-style pieces will command a very high price, even with a sscri- fice on the part of the omer. During the present financial depression we have not dared to take advantage of your kind offer to send the collection here. Recently the situation has undergone a favourable change. In the early part of Sept next, the International Congress of Art History will meet here in Stockholm, and in this connection we are going to arrange in this museum two temporary exhibitions organized upon the initiative of H. R. H. the Crown-Prince. One of this exhibitions will comprise something like 87l bronzes of the el which I have named Ordos-bronzes to which your beautiful pleces belong. We are going to invite all experts and connoisseurs of Early Far Eastern Art to attend to the Congress and to our exhibitions We can not promise definitely to buy thesebesautiful specimens, specially as we do not know the price. But we promise to make allOMS b. possible effort to buy them for this Museum or for some private Swedish collection. We can also promise that they will be shom under most favourable conditions to a large number of experts and collectors of Early Far Eastern Art. In the case of a favourable reply, we would prefer not to recelve your valuable specimens before the midst of Aug. Uould you send one of your representatives here bringing the specimens with him? Otherwise the parcel could be handed to the Swedish Consulate General in New York. The Consulate Official will then hand it to the Captain of one of the Swedish-American line Steamers, from whom our representative will receive the parcel in Gothenburg. I hope that you will accept this as the safest way of transport, it you cen not send your om man with the valuable cargo.
