Dr. V.K. Ting, The Geological Survey of China, 3, Ping Ma Ssu, Pol ping Dear Dr. Ting, It was suck a& long time since I heard from you and for this reason it was delightful to receive from you the groupphoto from the Western Hills, which arrived here the Gth inst. It is hard to describe how tuched I was by the arrival of this photo. It was such a pleasant recollection of happy days in the past and there were so many of my old friends in the group. Dear Dr. Ting, please give my kindest regards to Dr, Wong, Dr. Hu Shih and Mr, Tan. I had no idea that Hu Shih has such a big son. In fact I showed the photo on the day of its arrival here to the Chinese Minister in Stockholm, H.E. Chu Chang Nien and Madame Chu, a daughter of Tong Shao Yi and a most intelligent lady, lowed and admired by all Stockholm, Acting upon my immediate impulse I sent you a telegram reading as follows: Heartiest thanks for the beautiful groupphoto from Tachiaossu stop heartiest goodwishes go to you, the Survey and China in these terrible days stop numerous Swedish friends of Ghina join in this Andersson. I hope it reached you alright, Yesterday I sent you a copy of my long delayed popular book DEN GULA JORDENS BARN (The children of the Yellow Earth). Unfortunately it</pres:description><pres:content xml:lang="sv">0310 » Ås so far only published in Swedish and I do not know whether there will be an English edition. It seems that editors abroad are very hesitating to start anything new in this troublesome time. You will note that I have managed very well to illustrate my book almost exelusively with material already published, but I am preparing for the Survey Bulletin a paper on the remarkable reconstructions of big tripods and large vessels with pointed bottom. I have taken an immense interest in the wonderful discoveries at Chou K”ou Tien. The Sinanthropus-material and before all the artifacts associated with it form certainly one of the most revolutionary discoveries ever made, I am going to write to Dr. Black and to Professor Teilhard more in detail in these matters. By the way, I am absolutely convinced that there are many more cave devosits of approximately the same type. In fact my servant Chuang ones brought in a material from a place near the railway Shih Chia Chuang-Taiyuanfu. It was the same fauna as at Chou K”ou Tien, but the bones were more weatnered and fragnmentary. No doubt therö are other caves to be explored and possibly one day you will find a Pre-Sinanthropus. With kindest regards Yours very truiy</pres:content><pres:context><pres:event xml:lang="sv">Tillverkad</pres:event><pres:timeLabel>1933</pres:timeLabel></pres:context><pres:image><pres:mediaType>image/jpeg</pres:mediaType><pres:src type="thumbnail">https://collections.smvk.se/carlotta-om/web/image/tn/10181232/E1A-9_0309.jpg</pres:src><pres:src type="lowres">https://collections.smvk.se/carlotta-om/web/image/zoom/10181231/E1A-9_0309.jpg</pres:src><pres:mediaLicense>http://kulturarvsdata.se/resurser/License#by-nc-nd</pres:mediaLicense><pres:byline xml:lang="sv">Östasiatiska museet</pres:byline><pres:copyright xml:lang="sv">Statens museer för världskultur</pres:copyright></pres:image><pres:image><pres:mediaType>image/jpeg</pres:mediaType><pres:src type="thumbnail">https://collections.smvk.se/carlotta-om/web/image/tn/10181236/E1A-9_0310.jpg</pres:src><pres:src type="lowres">https://collections.smvk.se/carlotta-om/web/image/zoom/10181235/E1A-9_0310.jpg</pres:src><pres:mediaLicense>http://kulturarvsdata.se/resurser/License#by-nc-nd</pres:mediaLicense><pres:byline xml:lang="sv">Östasiatiska museet</pres:byline><pres:copyright xml:lang="sv">Statens museer för världskultur</pres:copyright></pres:image><pres:references><pres:reference>http://kulturarvsdata.se/SMVK-OM/arkiv/204088</pres:reference></pres:references><pres:representations><pres:representation format="HTML">http://kulturarvsdata.se/SMVK-OM/arkivdokument/html/521248</pres:representation><pres:representation format="XML">http://kulturarvsdata.se/SMVK-OM/arkivdokument/xml/521248</pres:representation><pres:representation format="RDF">http://kulturarvsdata.se/SMVK-OM/arkivdokument/rdf/521248</pres:representation></pres:representations></pres:item>
