I answered this by wiring, "Please buy", Now, I don? t know how much of my first share Karlbeck has spent- until the last consignment arrived, not very much, but I daresay that including the last consignment there may not b e enough of the first share left to pay for the ku, which so far as I can make out from The Times (though I speak with some doubt) will cost about £80 sterling. This then may be the time for Mr.Lagrelius, your Treasurer, to cash the echeaue for 5000 kreme” to which you refer in your letter of February 1st of this year where you tell me you have decided not to cash it at the time but to keep it until Karlbeck has reported a bronze that meets with my approval. & Please communicate this letter to Mr.Legrelius and åsk him to do what he thinks best. Assuming that the cheoue is still uncashed will you let me hear from you a day or two before it is presenteä? > don 't know what the custom is in Sweden, but in this country no > cheque more than 3 months old is cashed as a routine matter, and it seems to depend rather on the temper of the Bank whether itÖJ writes to the drawer to say that it has a cheque more than three months old and stall it be paid, or returns it to the payee with the intimation that it should be re-dated. I shoula not like you to have any trouble of this sort. There were some interesting beads and iron sworås in my share of the things that reached London about a fortnight ago. I em writing to Karlbeck, thanking him and making one or two suggestians.
