You have shown me 80 much kindness and sincere friendship that I have dared to approach you in a matter which interests me very mich at the present moment. I am writing för an anniversary volume to be dedicated to ur Örown-Prince a paper, "Hunting Magic in the Eurasian Animal Style" in which I describe a great fumber of our common friends, the Ordos-bronzes. I have also tried to offer an interpretation of these bronzes and for this purpose I have collected from various sources ellustrations for comparison. Among other things I am highly interested in p painting by the famous French lady painter Rosa Bonheur "Le Duel", depicting the fight between two famous stallions Hobgoblin and Arabian-Godolphin. I have not so far seen tlis picture but only an English etching made as a copy of the painting. Some data on this painting I have collected from L, Roger=.Milbs. "Rosa Bonheur, sa vie.son oeuvre." Paris 1900. Pag. 138 — 134, I have also learnt bhat this picture was exhibited in Galerie Tedesco, Oct. 1897. What I wanted is a good photograph of this painting. Do ou think that you could be so very kind to help me in this matter as I have0336 b no other connection inpParis., It goes without saying that we are only too happy to pay all expenses direct and indirect for providing us with the desired photographic copy. Have you still that excellent collection of Ordös=-brongzes which I saw when I visited Paris and from which i bought some few specimens. Our coilection of this kind has improved very considerably since we had the pleasure to see you here.
