December 20, 1957 My dear Dr. Andersson: This is just a brief and rather hurried note to inform you that Miss Hempel is very apt to forward mail to me in your care during the time I am to be in Sweden. We are sailing from New York on the 28th of this month, on the s.s. "SCANMAIL" of the American Scantio Line, arriving in Stockholm, I should judge, about the middle of January. Although I probably mentioned this fortheoming visit to your honorable country when I saw you in Nanking or Peiping last spring (alas, poor Nanking), yet the reason I have not written is that the plan until very recently was somewhat uncertain, and also that the primary reason for my coming is to collaborate with Dr. Hummel of the Sven Hedin ex- pedition staff in writing up certain of the anthropological find- ings of the Sino-Swedish Expedition to Central Asia, Therefore ny correspondence has been chiefly with Drs. Hedin and Hummel. I shall look forward to seeing as much as possible of your good self and your work. If you will kindly instruct your secretary to lay aside any mail that may possibly come for me in your care, although mail from the U.S.A. will more than likely be sent to me in care of Dr. Hedin, I shall doubly appreciate it.
