Dear Dr. Andersson:” Just a short note to let you know that the work at Chou Xou Tien is once more in progress. fe had to discontinue excavation there for about 10 days towards the end of June owing to a dispute over the ownership of the landa Dr. Bohlin has done splendid work and is most interested and enthusiastic. The tooth which I mentioned in my last letter as being possibly eanthropoid turned out to be Macacus - I was mislead before seing the specimen by the drawing done at twice natural size which Dr . Bohlin sent. I was very much excited over the finéå until I saw the tooth itself. The deposit is turning out to be an enormous one and we may not be able to completely excavate it this season though I still hope this may be possible. I hope Pr. Wimen will find it possible to send us = casts of the Peking Lady's teeth soon - has he said anything to you about it? . I have never written to him direct about it as I understood you had done so. Do you think I had better write to him now? ; = Things are going on here much as usual and we hear Pr. Hedin s expedition is progressing well also. In another month I hope to have all my data on the Kansu material in portable form and then I shall settle down quietly to work on the summaries and analysis.
