Standing on a high pedestal, in front of the temple at the foot of Longevity Hill (near the Summer Palace). They are obviously made in the style of the ancient period. The shape, wings, and flame decoration on the body remind us of the kirin in front of Liang's tomb, but the carving time is obviously later, most likely not earlier than the Ming Dynasty, and the shape of the pedestal also proves this. The material is white marble. The book records many Beijing sculptures and mentions: "Many heads (in the Tianlongshan Grottoes) were cut off and shipped to Europe via Beijing."
