Gayer-Anderson in Cairo. He was a former British military that had built up a considerable collection of antiquities. Over the course of a few decades he sold or donated parts of his collection to the Egyptian museum in Stockholm. In total, the museum received close to two thousand objects from him. Amongst these were Gayer-Anderson’s favourites, a collection of figured ostraca from Deir el-Medina and the Valley of the Kings.Den samlare som på olika sätt bidrog mest till det nya museets samlingar var R.G. Gayer-Anderson i Kairo, en före detta brittisk militär som hade byggt upp en ansenlig samling antikviteter. Under tiotals år sålde och skänkte delar av sin samling till Egyptiska museet i Stockholm. Totalt fick museet ta emot närmare tvåtusen föremål från honom.
