Globular body, wide concave neck and flaring rim. Hollow, cylindrical foot with spreading base. Two horizontal loop-handles on body; one surmounted by a bowl-shaped attachment with flaring sides. Decorated in black matt paint. In the handle-zone, a frieze of framed latticed lozenges. Horizontal bands at rim and curve of base. Foot, part of stem and handles are solid-painted. Behind each handle, a broad semicircle, on one side surmounted by a solid painted double axe framed by vertical lines. On the interior, bands at rim and on floor of vessel. The small “bowl” is decorated with radiating bands.L. 420:068, SCE 1928., Classified as White Painted I Ware in SCE I. The function of the bowl-shaped attachments on the handles was originally to support the dipper with which liquids were taken from large craters, but gradually it became merely decorative., Part of rim and body restored.
