At either end of the hoop thus formed are a double ring of granules and a plain disc carrying two loops. The ear-ring was permanently fastened to the ear by means of a curved pin, which is sheated in a gold tube and bent into a ring at either end. These rings engage between the loops at the ends of the hoop and are fastened to them, at one end by by the insertion of a small cylinder, the ends of which are hammered out, and at the other end by means of a small ribbon bent M-fashion, the ends of which were turned apart after insertion.</pres:description><pres:content xml:lang="en">MM 1990:002 a+b, From the collection of Carl Kempe, 1990., Earlier Inv.nr.
