Wide mouth; grooved, overhanging rim; rather tall body; raised, horizontal handles at upper body; lower body tapering to a short stem; grooved base. Reddish brown clay; black glaze; added white and yellow. Reserved band on inside of rim; reserved laurel branch on outside; A: to the left Herakles, dressed in his lion’s skin, holds his club in his right hand and a phiale in his left; to his right Athena with shield and spear, wearing a kekryphalos, chiton and aegid; in the upper field to the left a string of white beads; between the couple a suspended fillet with added white; to the right of Athena, Hermes in short chiton, chlamys, boots and petasos holds his staff in his right hand and a phiale in his left; to the right Dionysos in stephane and a draped himation, is seated on a white klismos and holds up a phiale; B: three standing youths in himatia and white stephanai/fillets; the youth in the centre holds a staff with white bands attached to it, the one to the right a phiale with added white and yellow, and a fillet with white bands; in the upper field two cistas decorated with white; reserved handle panels; rays at base of handle attachments; below handles large palmettes and tendrils; below figures an encircling band of meanders and dotted saltire squares.NM Ant 0018, Transferred from Gustaf III:s Museum of Antiquities to the National Museum.
