Masken är inte minst ett exempel på hur olika indianfolk och enskilda indianpersoner ställer sig till skapandet av t.ex. masker för icke specifikt religiöst-ceremoniellt bruk. SB, 2011-01-18., The mask was carved, in the presence of many visitors, at the museum by the Haida artist Jim Hart, good friend of Carl Johan Gurt, Swedish historian of religions (Stockholm University) and Northwest Coast expert. The mask is on display in the museum´s North America exhibition, opened 2008, and the mask is a compliment to the museum´s pool of contemporary Native American arts and crafts from the Northwest Coast and from the rest of the Americas. The mask is also an example of how different Native American peoples and Native American individuals/artists may approach the making and display of e.g. masks for specifically non religious-ceremonial purposes.
