Alvarsson har publicerat den symboliska innebörden av dylika väskors mönster. Samlingen, gjord under etnografiskt-kulturantropologiskt fältarbete,  uppdaterar museets mycket omfattande bestånd från Gran Chaco-området (se museets E. von Rosen och E. Nordenskiöld-samlingarna). Metraux, Alfred, 1939, Myths and tales of the Matko Indians, Etnologiska Studier, vol 9, Göteborg., The collection is made by Jan-Åke Alvarsson, cultural anthropologist at Uppsala University and one of the world experts on the Gran Chaco. Alvarsson has published the symbolic patterns of such bags. The collection is an addition to the substantial amount of the museum´s  objects/collections from the Gran Chaco (see mainly the collections of E. von Rosen and E. Nordenskiöld). (SB, 2010-03-11).
