The children are also shaved in this way, when they are a few years old (fig. 35 and pl. 51). Mothers, who are particularly concerned about the appearance of their children, shave them at an even earlier age, as seen on pl. 49, where the child has a very neat cap. The heads are of two different types, one long and narrow (pl. 48) and one that has the shape of a round hat (fig. 53). Both types, between which there are forms of transition, used by both men and women. The shave is done so that the hair is lubricated with grease and scraped off with a chisel-shaped tool of iron, with a strong convex edge. The specimen depicted, Fig. 46, is 14 cm. far. The razor is extremely sharp, it is held in much the same way as we hold a pen, as we write. Batwa straight helps the other, then in turn requests the same service back."
