Name and identification of character
A foreign man, perhaps the chief of the Tamil merchants, Demala kolam (Sin.).

Context
The story portion in Kolam. Some Kolam groups introduce both husband and wife.

Material
Wood, Vel-kaduru (Nux vomica).

Iconography
The folds of the turban, Talappava (Sin.), are coloured in white, yellow, red and green. The face is pink in colour. The eyelids are also painted in pink, which is not common in the case of the drummers. The mouth is closed. Pink lips. The moustache is prominently twirled at the ends. There is an indication of black hair on the chin. The auricle is a hollowed semi-circle and the lobes are rectangular in shape. Small ears.
