Name and identification of character
Not identifiable.

Context
Possibly a Sanni mask

Material
Wood, vel-kaduru (Sin.) (Nux vomica).

Iconography
A face mask without a head-dress. The shape of the head does not facilitate the tying of a turban. An artificial beard made of coconut husk or hemp is attached (although, the beard appears to have been attached to the wrong mask). It is attached to the holes in the ears. Parts of the face are painted in thick blue. Two teeth are shown with lips painted in red. The ears are separately sculpted and newly attached.

Comments of the Umlauff Catalogue
Although identified in the Umlauff Catalogue as the mask of a drummer, the iconographical details, including the colour scheme, do not convey the impression of a drummer.
