The wooden component of the arrow is likely made from namàla, or black palm (Astrocaryum standleyanum). The wrapped cordage connecting the arrow tip to the wooden shaft could be made from the Pita plant (Aechmea magdalenae) and is described by the visitors as having been treated with beeswax, to strengthen and harden the string and keep it from unraveling.
