Nr: 202100-5075 KONSERVERINGSRAPPORT INVENTARIENUMMER: 1880.04.0401 OBJEKTSSPECIFIKATION SAKORD: Adze DELAR/DELOBJEKT: MATERIAL: Wood, ivory, leather, sinew DIMENSIONER (mm): 400 (l) x 245 (w) x 88 (d) TILLSTÅNDSBEDÖMNING ELLER SKADEBESKRIVNING: Object was mounted to a display board as part of the Vaga exhibition in Kappsäcken. The adze was tied tightly with fishing wire to the painted board for more than 20 years. During deinstallation it became clear that the adze was adhered to the black paint at points of contact with the board. The adze was carefully removed from the board with small pieces of black paint attached. The binding between the wooden handle and ivory blade of the adze was observed to be loose, and the joint mobile. UTFÖRD KONSERVERING: An attempt was made to mechanically delaminate the black paint from the ivory surface of the adze blade. MATERIAL OCH METOD: The surface of the paint was mechanically reduced using a combination of scalpel and bamboo skewer. The remaining residue was solubilized with an 80/2o solution of ethanol in water and gently removed with a cotton swab. HANTERINGS- OCH FÖRVARINGSANVISNINGAR: Adze requires careful handling as the binding between the handle and blade are loose.
